THE AHQ SALUTES THE LAUNCH OF THE QUEBEC INNKEEPER NETWORK

Montréal, May 22, 2020 – The Association Hôtellerie Québec is proud to highlight the creation of the Réseau québécois Aubergiste. The flagship of the hotel park, the inns will now have a special brand image and an independent transactional reservation engine, without intermediaries. In the wake of the craze for local purchasing, reservations through an independent transactional site will directly encourage Quebec innkeepers, since the commissions charged by international online reservation agencies are very high, often representing up to the second largest expense after salaries. This new association will aim to recruit innkeepers from all over Québec in order to promote these exceptional establishments by pooling their strengths.

“The innkeepers are a magnificent feature of our tourist accommodation network, since the owner has the singularity of staying on site. They know their part of the country better than anyone else and offer a unique welcome to tourists. The creation of a network specific to their needs demonstrates the level of maturity reached for this accommodation product. By grouping together, Québec innkeepers are offering themselves a transactional site, without intermediaries, that encourages local purchases and the retention of economic spinoffs in Québec. A Quebecer travelling in Quebec will now be able to take advantage of a user-friendly and simple site to book an inn, while making an economic gesture for the regions. We are pleased to be able to offer this service,” said Dany Thibault, President of the Association Hôtellerie Québec.
“We are proud to have contributed to the launch of the Réseau québécois Aubergiste. By getting together, innkeepers will be able to help each other more, with their own reality. By setting up a transactional site, they are participating in the local purchasing movement in our Québec tourist accommodation network. This is one of the good ways to directly encourage the chosen hotelier or innkeeper. The choice of a cooperative structure also demonstrates the uniqueness of the innkeeper network. Some great initiatives, such as the reservation engine, are to be expected in the coming years to develop this lodging model, which is ingrained in our regions. “We are pleased to announce that Xavier Gret, President and CEO of the Association Hôtellerie Québec, has decided to bid again.
