Dear members,

Prime Minister Trudeau announced last Friday an extension of the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy beyond June.
We recognize that this measure alone will not save our tourism industry. However, at this point in time, every small step forward should be considered a victory. The advocacy of our colleagues from the Hotel Association of Canada, the Alliance de l’industrie du tourisme du Québec, your association and several other partners will have paid off in terms of this gain.

We will continue to represent you before political authorities to develop assistance programs specific to our economic sector.
To this end, the government has also confirmed that it has established a steering committee to define, in collaboration with partners from various economic sectors, more specific financial assistance programs. The tourism sector, a major sector in Canada, will thus be taken into account.
Also, with a view to making the progressive deconfinement for our industry as successful as possible, we have almost completed the development of the Health Measures Guide for our accommodation sector. This document will allow you to know in detail the measures to be applied to ensure a safe environment for your employees and customers. In the meantime, we would like to remind you that our accommodation establishments are not yet open to leisure tourists. Tourist Residences must also always remain closed until further notice. We are aware that the situation is not ideal, but we are working to ensure a safe resumption of all our activities and we respect the progressive approach of the authorities despite our wish that everything will resume quickly.

We continue to work with the Cellule des chefs d’entreprises de l’Alliance de l’industrie touristique du Québec to represent our requests for assistance, which will meet your specific needs. You will find HERE our recommendations to support the tourism industry in this regard.
We remind you that since May 1st, you are required to display your attestation number on each of your advertisements. We invite you to send us your attestation number by e-mail at so that it can be added to our website.
New guidelines have also been issued regarding the International Mobility Program (IMP). We invite you to read them in the information sharing section at the bottom of this email.

Together, we will be stronger as an industry!

Xavier Gret
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
