Dear members,

Considered an “essential service” since the beginning of the pandemic, hospitality workers will have access to the Essential Worker Retention Incentive Program as of Tuesday. Workers eligible for the EWRP could receive, during the pandemic period, in addition to their salary, $100 for each eligible work week, retroactive to March 15, 2020, for up to 16 weeks. In addition to their wages, they could receive a taxable amount of $400 per month, up to a maximum of $1,600 for a period of 16 weeks. The first payment is scheduled for May 27, 2020. Certain criteria apply, please consult the Revenu Québec website.

The Commission de l’économie et du travail, which welcomed the Minister of Tourism, Ms. Caroline Proulx, was held today at the National Assembly. It was an opportunity to hear her present the needs of our industry to the Minister of Tourism and to allow opposition members to discuss with the government about the COVID-19 pandemic in our communities. The proceedings of the National Assembly committees are available HERE.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced at his press briefing that the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy will continue until August. A step in the right direction. We will continue to advocate for a minimum 12-month extension. You will find our recommendations and those of the tourism industry HERE.

Our Health Guide will be available soon. Stay tuned for our next communications for more information.
